Government Relations
The following are grants that I wrote for government agencies. Government agencies or embassies often offer grants for various causes. It is important to be able to know how to write grants for various reasons and to different organizations or agencies. These grants show how to make connections with different governments to build bridges and make a difference together.
This was a discussion question that was asked for one of the classes in rotation 2. Different countries have different government systems and set ups. Because of this, different governments provide different things for different people. When you live in different places you have different needs and different wants. You are exposed to different things than other people in other countries so you have different needs from the government.
I did a grant training on how to write a grant and we tailored it for an embassy grant. I think it is important to be able to utilize government resources. Partnering with different embassies that are also working on similar projects and have similar goals as you is important and grants are a great way to do that.
Partnerships
Collaborating with Nonprofits is a paper that talks about the importance and the benefit of nonprofits working together to make stronger organizations and serve a wider group of people. Often organizations do similar work, or have the same ultimate goal. For example, two organizations could be trying to help women get out of domestic violence situations. One organization could be working with the police to help provide shelter for women when they leave dangerous situations, the other group could be teaching women trade skills in order to get a job or start businesses. The two organizations could be working together to partner to help women who are victims of domestic violence.
We conducted a training and helped students partner with faculty and staff in order to solve student issues. We tried to help them set up some kind of partnership or liaison in order to help them get their needs or concerns heard and understood. This was a good thing for them in order to create better relationships between the students and the school administration.
One of the organizations that I work with, Dhako Ghar, partnered with another organization to hire women who graduate from sewing school. This is a great partnership and one that is benefitting both organizations. Dhako Ghar also gathers support and resources for both organizations. They try to create a give and take for both so each organization benefits from the partnership.
We worked with another organization to get the issues of our organization out into another audience's feed. They did a highlight on us and the work we were doing. The Beehive has a variety of partnerships with people all over. Several churches and church groups send supplies and money to support different ministries that the Beehive does.
Donor Relations
The following are grants that were submitted to a variety of different organizations and agencies in order to gain funds for various projects. When you submit a grant and it gets accepted you then begin a donor relationship. The organization who granted your request is then going to want follow up to show that you are using the funds for what you requested them for.
Nepal Grant is a grant that was submitted to a government agency.
MAU Newsletter that started in order to keep donors updated on what is happening on MAU campus. It is a quarterly publication that informs donors as to what is happening at the school and what their money is being used for. Creating good relations between donors and organizations is really important. You want donors to feel like they are a part of your organization and that their money is being used properly.
