Social Media Communication
I have a Blog that I update when I travel and updated quite a bit about my masters and the travels and experiences it has taken me on. This is a fun way to share longer stories and pictures of things that I am experiencing on a more long medium social media platform. I enjoy writing and being able to share longer stories and posts to people who enjoy reading what I am doing is a fun way to share.
This is from a seminar that I took about social
media and how it is best used in business
settings and how it can be beneficial. Social
media has become such a big thing that all
businesses and nonprofits need to be able to
take advantage of. Knowing how to use it
effectively for the type of business you have
is important.
Sharing things on social media helps you stay in touch with others in your life. Technology is an amazing thing that keeps people in contact with each other when they lives continents apart. I have made friends all over the world in the last few years and they are people I love being able to stay in contact with through social media. It continues to challenge my way of thinking and broadening my world view.
I have run the social media accounts of
several organizations. It is a great way
to share information with donors and
supporters as well as gain more support.
I think it is fun to share stories and
behind the scenes experiences of your
organization. It can be fun to create
unique and interesting content.
Geographical Information Systems
GIS Certificate shows that I have completed the GIS training and have a basic understanding and knowledge of what it does and how to use it. GIS is a program that maps out various information from populations, to resources, to a variety of other things. This can help development workers to know where various things are or how population densities are mapped across areas they are working in. This can be important information to know before or as they work on projects.
The following are maps that have been created in GIS programs.
Data Processing
Seminar Certificate show that I have completed a seminar that taught about a variety of ways to analyze data and how it can benefit certain projects. There are many ways to collect, track and process data. Knowing the best way to process or tack the information you have for a specific project or the specific kind of of data is important.
Facebook Analytics is helpful and shows how you are reaching people and how your posts are being seen by other pages. Being able to post engaging content is important. Different social media platforms are best suited for different types of content. However keeping track of the analytics of your social media platform is important because it tells you what is being viewed and engaged with and what is not, that way you can adjust your content accordingly.
I have completed a MEAL seminar about
how MEAL can help with M&E and how it
can help you process that data you collect
and how it can benefit you and your
organization. MEAL is a process and a part
of M&E which is an important part of
running projects and an effective organization.
Monitoring allows to make sure that you are
working on projects effectively. Evaluations
allow you to make sure you know how
your project has turned out and if there
are things you can improve for future
projects.
Sometimes creating a survey in order to gather information from a group of people. It can be a great way to access information in order to more effectively serve beneficiaries or work as an organization. Trying to reach a large group of people for their opinions or insight when doing research can be be hard. Creating a survey can make it easier because it can be distributed to a large group of people online. This also allows people to fill out the survey at their own convenance and illuminates the trouble of having to schedule appointments to do interviews in order to gather information.
Being aware of the analytics of your social media is a good way to make sure you are getting views by your follows and that you are getting the most exposure that you can. This is important information that needs to be processed on a weekly or monthly basis. Staying up on this information can help you make your reach on social media wider.
ePortfolio Building
ADP this is a timeline/ checklist of the things I needed to accomplish in rotation 2 and what I needed to do in order to finish evidences for my portfolio. This is important because it helps make sure that everything is done in the appropriate time manner. It is important to keep track of all the moving parts of this big project. There are sections and things that need to be done in different phases and this documents the different parts.
PEM this is the way that I tracked what I need to finish and collect in order to complete my portfolio. This is a document that allowed me to make sure I had each evidence I needed for each competency. With as many competencies as there are, it is easy to forget or lose track of an evidence, but this document allows you to keep track of them in an organized manner.
This is the first page of my portfolio, in which I worked on quite often in order to make sure I had put together the most complete and strongest portfolio as possible. I wanted to make sure that my portfolio was professional yet unique and reflected my personality. I have a communication degree and presentation is important to me and I wanted to make sure I included that in my porfolio.
This is my cohort working together to start our portfolios and helping each other get a good start to our projects. This was our first experience with the portfolio. We spent time setting them up together and making sure we had our evidences accounted for up to that point. It was a lot to understand at first and a lot of make sure you are thinking about during the different phases of the program. This was our first time to make sure we all understood how it worked.
